Highlights Tour Itinerary Day one: Arriving at airport Q.A.A Amman. The airport is a 30-minute drive to the capital city of Amman. Today is arrival day and for those arriving in time, this is a good opportunity to discover the beauty of the capital Amman and to try the delightful Jordanian food available in the numerous restaurants and cafes across the city. Day Two: Amman- Madaba- Mount Nebo- Karak- Dana. An early breakfast this morning ready for a prompt departure to Madaba - a town with a strong Christian heritage and aptly dubbed the 'City of Mosaics'. Continuing our journey for another 20 minutes, we will arrive at Mount Nebo, referenced in the Old Testament as the place that Moses once stood to look over the Promised Land. Later this morning we carry on travelling south, just as traders, armies and pilgrims have done before us, along the impressive 5,000-year-old King's Highway to Karak. Our packed day of sightseeing ends with a short drive to Petra - without doubt Jordan's most valuable treasure. We can look forward to a couple of days spent here to really get under the skin of this awe-inspiring site. Day Three: From Dana- Wadi Dana to Feynan. Day Four: From Feyana to Ras AlFaid.Today's walk descends from the Mediterranean climate(1200m) above the sea level to 100m above sea level. Throughout this 16K walk, you will hike in a natural open flora museum. At the end of the walk, you visit the ancient copper mining sights (1st & 2nd century AD) (Roman Paganism era). This walk triggers your thoughts and emotions about history and nature. Day four: From Fenan to Ras Alfaid.Into the foot of the mountains, today’s route will ascend steeply across rocks and small boulders through a twisty track, going high into the mountain. This section is challenging. We are rewarded with stunning views west into Wadi Araba. We will continue up over a high saddle, before descending to the river valley of Wadi Alforn following the goat track. Day five: From Ras Alfaid- Qubour Alwheidat to Little Petra. Today's walk is descending throughout the masterpiece of nature’s creation, crossing the colourful sand dunes reaching little Petra where we're going to spend the night in a fixed campsite where flushing toilets are provided. Day six: From Little Petra- Old Village to Petra. On our last day of hiking, we're going to start the day from the campsite crossing by the oldest village known to man (9500BC neolithic period of the stone age). During this day we’re going to enter Petra from the backdoor where there are fewer people throughout the beautiful cliffs of the western part of Jordan. The first Nabatean's carved monument we're going to see is the Monastery and we will continue through the Cardo to reach the most famous façade of Petra (Treasury) and finally pass through the twisty natural gorge to end up at the visitor centre of Petra. Day seven: From Petra to Wadi Rum. For those who want to sleep longer, we will depart at 11am for Wadi-Rum. Alternatively, you could take the opportunity to have a wander around Wadi Musa. Today we're going to discover this gorgeous desert that comes after a 2hr drive from Petra and 70K from the only seaport city in Jordan, Al- Aqaba. We will arrive in Wadi Rum by 1:00pm, check in to our campsite and have our welcome drink with our hosts. Late afternoon is a 2hr Jeep tour (Safari) to discover the beauty of the desert and to see the textures of the nature. Wadi Rum has more than 20,000 inscriptions which have been documented tracing back through history over 12000 years. This is truly a place steeped in ancient history. Day eight: visit the Dead sea, the lowest point on Earth, before travelling back to Amman. This morning we depart Wadi-Rum and travel for around 4hrs to the Dead Sea. Officially the lowest point on the Earth's surface, this unique water body has an amazingly high salt content (33%) which means that no animal life survives, and it is almost impossible to sink. The experience of floating naturally is unique and relaxing on the calm sea. We'll spend a couple of hours this afternoon at a tourist beach, where food and drink can be purchased, and we have use of showers facilities.
Activity Description Enjoy sightseeing through Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Dead Sea, Dana, Petra and Wadi- Rum. Meet locals and enjoy their stories. Get to learn more about Bedouin culture (Bedouin Coffee on wood fire, meal under the ground, Zarab)
Important Information Tour Overview : One of the most awe-inspiring sections of a trek across Jordan, this route was recently mentioned by National Geographic as one of the world's best fifteen hikes. The trail descends from the heights of the mountain plateaus to the Araba Valley and climbs back again, crossing several climate zones, diverse ecosystems hidden in canyons, and dramatic labyrinths of hills and valleys displaying the full spectrum of the region’s geology. The scenery spans from majestic and epic mountaintops to peaceful, idyllic countryside where new landscapes appear along the way. If the natural attractions aren’t enough, the route ends with the Nabatean masterpiece, Petra. The city in the rocks holds days' worth of exploration by itself, and the short route the Jordan Trail takes through it is meant only to display a few of its highlights and to provide a base for further exploring, not to fully capture its depth. Few other long-distance trails can boast stages as consistently spectacular as this or end in a place as worthy of a visit as Petra.
