The Temple of Hercules, this architectural masterpiece, is located on a hilltop in one of the oldest quarters of Amman's old city. The Great Temple was built between 162-166 AD during the Roman occupation of the Citadel of Amman, and it is larger than any temple in Rome itself, which was distinguished by a unique architectural design, including columns, towers and defensive fortifications.
