Connecting Jordan’s Local Experiences with Travellers Through Digital Tourism

calendar_monthOctober 10, 2026

Across Jordan, local communities offer experiences that bring visitors closer to the country’s people, culture and landscapes. A guided walk, a traditional meal, a desert excursion or a boat trip can introduce travellers to a side of Jordan they might otherwise miss.

Yet offering a memorable experience and reaching potential customers require different skills. Local guides and activity providers may have valuable knowledge and services, while finding it difficult to present those services online and connect with travellers planning their visit.

This is the opportunity we are working to address through Excursions Jordan.

Helping Local Providers Present Their Experiences Online

Excursions Jordan connects local tour guides, tourism service providers and activity operators with travellers exploring Jordan.

Our aim is to help providers digitize their offerings: describe their experiences, share photographs, present practical details and make their services easier to discover through one platform.

For a traveller, this means being able to explore activities across different destinations. For a provider, it creates an additional way to reach potential customers beyond personal contacts and their immediate location.

We invite Jordanian tourism providers to register and list their services free of charge, helping more local businesses take part in the country’s digital tourism economy.

Bringing Communities into the Visitor Journey

When people search for Petra tours, Wadi Rum experiences or things to do in Aqaba, they are often drawn first to the destination. The people delivering those experiences give the journey its character.

A local guide can explain the history behind a site. A desert host can introduce visitors to traditions and daily life. A boat operator or diving provider can help travellers experience Aqaba’s Red Sea coast.

By making these services more visible, we aim to encourage travellers to connect with local providers and include more community-based experiences in their itineraries.

The opportunity extends beyond Jordan’s best-known attractions. Experiences in places such as Ajloun, Madaba, Jerash and other destinations can give visitors more reasons to explore the country and spend time with the communities that welcome them.

Making Jordan Easier to Explore

Travellers planning to visit Jordan need clear information to turn an interest into a practical itinerary.

Excursions Jordan brings tours and activities together so visitors can explore different options—from cultural visits and guided tours to outdoor adventures, culinary experiences and water activities.

Someone planning to visit Aqaba, for example, may also be interested in a Wadi Rum excursion or a trip to Petra. Helping travellers discover those connections can introduce them to more providers and a wider range of experiences.

A Shared Opportunity for Jordanian Tourism

After many years working in Jordan’s tourism sector, I believe digital tools can help more local businesses participate in promoting our country.

Our ambition is to support a tourism environment where smaller providers have greater visibility and travellers can more easily discover what those providers offer.

This is an ongoing effort. Its value will depend on participation, the quality of the information presented and the experiences delivered to visitors.

Through Excursions Jordan, we invite local guides, activity operators and tourism businesses to help showcase the diversity of Jordan—its landmarks, its communities and the people who make each visit memorable.
